I will always be thankful to my dad who gave me my first camera at the age of ten. Since then, my camera has traveled with me everywhere. Taking pictures never took a back seat even during my corporate career that started with engineering projects in Europe and higher education consulting in Boston and Chicago. Photographing and creating albums was therapeutic after a long work week. :) Thus far, it had simply been a serious hobby!

Everything changed (for the better!) after I had two beautiful children – capturing their precious moments brought me so much joy and fulfillment. Continuous encouragement from family and friends convinced me to pursue photography as a full time endeavor. A friend once said to me, "you are really good at capturing candid moments and using them to tell beautiful life stories." This is how Shubha Gangal Photography was born. It brings me great pleasure knowing that through these precious portraits, I can bring joy into people’s lives, through memories that transcend generations.

I feel blessed to have traveled around the world to photograph people, weddings and corporate brands. In my hometown of Chicago, I have enjoyed meeting and photographing lovely families, authors, artists and celebrities. I have collaborated with Chicago based organizations including Chicago Q, The James Hotel, Mercat, Bright Horizons, and the British International School of Chicago.

This passion has given me a chance to work with amazing individuals such as Blair Brettschneider of GirlFoward, a CNN Hero who is providing selfless service to the community. It is a humbling experience to meet such wonderful people, and it makes me appreciate my work and life even more.

Thank you for visiting my page. Lastly, I would like to share a beautiful thought from Ralph Emerson that seems so true in my own journey.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. Ralph Waldo Emerson
